Remember that list of "honey dos", you know that list that you made like 5 years ago when you bought the house? Oh, yeah, that one...now here it is 5 years later and NONE of it is done. Imagine what it would be like to take on that list in 2 weeks or less to put your home on the market. It would give you a heart attack, unless of course you did not have to work or sleep or eat during your waking hours. Now imagine handing over your home, your largest asset, to me. Trusting me to do what is necessary to get your home sold, including that list that you have plus some other things that you maybe did not think of.
That is called Staging. It is one of many pieces of the relocation puzzle. I started by obtaining a key to the home, since the seller is already out of state at this time. I walked through the home with my camera and my notebook and took notes about the items that needed to be repaired, replaced, or just removed. Then, I scheduled an appointment with my handyman. Now, Laura Kay Sheely is a wonderful person that I utilize on all of my staging projects. She and her husband Travis are the owners of "The Small Jobs Guy". They are able to do anything from restaining interior doors, to painting, removing wall paper, hanging light fixtures, powerwashing, lawn mowing and disposing of stuff that you do not want. She walked through the house with me and took the notes of the items that needed to be done. She created a punch list for the seller along with the prices for her company to take care of them so that she could call and discuss this with him before he decided what he wanted to tackle himself. Of course, most sellers agree that the prices are reasonable enough, that they usually ask her to do it all for them.
And that is just the beginning.....I will continue with this series as we follow our 2 week journey to putting this listing back on the market.
In the meantime, please call me if you are overwhelmed and don't know where to start to get your home ready for today's competitive market. We can help and make it as convenient and painless as possible without costing you all of your home's equity!
Keep smiling,
Karen
